Ps3 Help ASAP

Got my PS3 today. I have plugged it all in and put the update disk in, and it turned off. And has stayed off! for over an hour!!!!

HELP

Its say on the disk not to! Im tempted to turn it on and let it update online.

There is a little flashing red light

id turn it on, at the end of the day and it dont work, take it back tomorrow and tell them its DOA, get a replacement and start again.

I did my update 2 days ago and it rebooted, what happens if you press and hold the "home" button on the controller?

Well thats something else its says not to do on this disk!

I think im just going to turn it on! Its not been used yet so if it goes bag i can take it back!

Just switch it back on.

Either press the PS button (middle of your controller) or on the machine.

Its turned on ok. I think i will try an online update
