PS3 HDMI and 4:3

Is there a way to get the PS3 to display 4:3 videos in the correct format rather than stretching them to fit a 16:9 screen? I had the same issue with Sky HD over HDMI on my 40W2000 TV, so I suspect there's not much can be done.
