PS3 -> Denon Amp, 7.1 MA

Hello! I have a PS3 slim connected to my Denon AVR2310 (iirc).

I believe the PS3 cannot output a bit stream with 7.1 MA, and that it decodes itself for PCM Linear output.

So my amp comes up as DTS Neo 6, or Dolby PLII depending on which I choose. I cannot tell if MA is being played...

Have I got this setup right?

If it was a blu-ray player which output a bitstream, would the decoding by the amp be better?

It does not matter where the sound is decoded it will sound exactly the same so it would not sound better with the amp decoding.
The PS3 can bitstream HD audio (it was the older phat version that could not). You just need to set it up correctly in the PS3.
