Quoted your own post there lol

Looks good. Charged up and sync was fine. Buttons are a little soft but still registered everything. Condition is very good.

    Will send a PM now.

Thx Mod. Unfortunately an issue with the controller. I left feedback based on it arriving and tested on a PC, all working, however it does not work wirelessly with the Steam Link. Upon researching further its suggested that all PS3 controllers should work out the box wirelessly with Steam Link.

List of compatible controllers with Steam Link

To save the seller hassle, I decided to take the controller to trade in with CEX presuming it may actually be due to PS3 controllers not being wirelesly compatible with Steam Link after all. However, upon checking the serial code and the controller he confirmed that it is in fact a fake.

Some clones (CECHZC2U Bluetooth DualShochIII) won't work wirelessly.[1]

Looking on the net, this rings true with the serial number and the colour scheme with black buttons. It also suggests that the fake controllers do not work wirelessly with Steam Link and that a legit PS3 controller does, without issues. I guess in my ad I did not explicitly request for a genuine PS3 controller but would've thought that's a given. At the moment, this controller has no use for me as it doesn't work with the Steam Link, which was my intention. I even attempted to trade it in initially to save hassle, however confirmation of it being fake has made me raise this.

Apologies for any confusion. I've done a bit of reading and I don't think it is a 'fake'. I've still got one myself and have done a little research.

The ones we have are Canadian ones, as said. Patent listings here. Industry applications here. The A1 at the end of the code indicates the build quality (which, from what I've seen, is the latter release ones with thinner plastic) and to have someone on the Steam forums saying they have one which doesn't work (and with no corroboration from Steam) doesn't constitute this being fake. Middle button is also clear (not solid black).

Anyway, not going to argue the toss. What resolution would you like? :)

Hmm you're right those serial codes do match. Although, When the guy at CEX put the code in though he showed me as fake. My friend is kindly giving me his controller tomorrow so I'll give that a try. I can't really ask for a refund if you genuinely believe its original either. I'm just going by what should work and what the guy at CEX said to suggest otherwise.

See, in contrary it was the guy in CEX who told me it was authentic and Canadian [emoji23]

I don't want you to be at any detriment so I can refund, you can send it back or I can just make a charitable donation on your/our behalf!

Right, visited another CEX today. The first thing they did was scan it and say its fake. They showed me their system and showed that the serial code on the controller is generic and returns many results. They also showed the following:

    8031111906411 - Google Search:

This shows the seals are linked to the fake chinese pads. Subsequently they said it would be impossible for any CEX to accept this as the first thing they do is scan it and it flags as counterfeit on their system which they showed me.

I also got hold of my mates official black one and it just worked straight away with Steam Link, no issues.

I think out of principle I'd prefer to return this to you,it is of no use to me.

No problems. I'll pop you over my address and I'll return the money back [emoji106] Shame that. I'll be having words with the scrote who promised me it was genuine.

Edit; alternatively, you can list it back up offering it for free on the forums (buyer pays postage) and it'll save posting back. LMK.

Yeh OK, I'll offer it up on the forums for anyone who wants it. In fact I'll offer it up for a trade for something 'gamey' in return :)

Maybe just offer it up as £2.80 then rather than a trade for longer than a day ;)

Mods, what's the view on return postage in this case? Want to weigh up whether it'd be worth returning or not.

This can be moved out of Disputes or archived. I apologise for bringing this thread out into the wild after sold. Was just a bit of an irritation for me as wanted it for Steam Link.

I still left positive feedback etc so no intentions to bring down Fozzeh here. Looks like a fault on CEX' part
