PS3 AV connection options

I am considering a PS3 but my LCD tv only has DVI, VGA and scart inputs. Can I buy either a component or HDMI cable and use a DVI adapter with them to get a HD picture?

I believe you'll have no problems on the PQ, but you might want to find out if your TV DVI is DVI-D that supports HDCP - that could cause some problems if not, good luck!

If you watch something that has HDCP, through a non compliant port then (I'm led to believe) it won't work. I'm not an expert on HDCP, or whether it's turned on for the PS3, there's a thread on here (somewhere!) that explains a bit more. Do a search for HDCP & PS3

Yep if the screen does not support HDCP through the DVI input then you wont get a picture from the PS3, just a black screen.

I thought that would only be in regards to when you want to watch content that HDCP, meaning games would be ok, Blu-ray not ok.

Nope HDCP is enabled all the time on the PS3 whether its watching films or playing games.
