All advice would be most appreciated especially from these that have the set up simular to mine(PS3 and Sky HD)

    Hi
The Sony 40X2000 is a superb LCD and can be had for £1250.
I know it's above your budget but it's worth the stretch! :)

Check out the Sony KDL-40X2000, for a little over 1k but if that's too much then the W2000 should work for you as well.

Panasonic LXD700? I'm not sure, I've heard some stuff about this...don't know if it'd suit.

    I AGREE !
if you can stretch your budget, the x-series is well worth it. It is due to be replaced soon so prices are low (around £1300 from what i can find)

If you need to be under the £1000 - then the kdl40w2000 is currently a bargain at about £835. Again it is being replaced, so prices are cheap.

with sky HD and a PS3, it makes sense to go for the full HD 1080 panel, that will give you the best picture when watching blu-ray.

I'd be interested in any input for this.
I'm currently looking for a new TV. Looking at 50", therefore know that SD is never going to be great so quality at that level is a non issue. I want 1080p as it's primary use will be Blu-Ray and HD DVD movies.
I figure LCD over Plasma as I'll be gaming on it too.
Samsungs seem to get a lot of praise when they aren't faulty!
    Cheers.

Same question I was going to ask. Add in Xbox over component and Media center over VGA (or DVI?)

What's all this I hear about "clouding" on the Sonys? I'd honestly rather get a Samsung but I want what's best. I'll go up to £1300 as well. I want the best TV I can get, I'd even go plasma....
