PS3 60gb No XMB

My son in laws ps3 will come on but isn't showing any menus just the wavy lines ?!?!

Supposedly the controllers won't charge when plugged in either ?

Can anyone please advise what he needs to do

Have you tried going in to the recovery menu?

Hold the power button until it turns on and then off again (think there are 2 beeps) then turn on again holding the power button until there are 3 beeps and it enters the recovery menu. - not 100% on that process but it is something like that.

Then there is an option to fix corruptions.

Cheers for that. Did all that said there was a corrupted file but no option to fix ?!?!
