    Hi Guys,
Recently bought a PS2 - Component Video cable on Ebay Australia. However when hooked up to my Panny AE100 PJ I get no picture. Is it possible this cable is made for the NTSC market? If so can it (cable) be modified to play PAL? Also, if I mod my PS2 to play NTSC games, does this enable NTSC out of the machine, thus solving my problem?
    Thanking you guys in advance!

Is the PS2 set to output component Y-Cb-Cr rather than RGB?

    Good question!
Last time I plugged in the PS2 (bout 6 months ago) was when I was still living in Ireland. Was using a SCART cable then, which I have since misplaced/left behind. Is there anyway of changing the setting without resorting to purchasing an RF mod just for this once off adjustment?

Have you not got the basic composite video cable that came with it? That'll still work.

I'll boot my PS2 up later and do 'the count'. I'll be able to tell you the control presses to change to component without a cable plugged in.:) if you want..

    Just done it.

turn ps2 on with no game in (make sure turned on from scratch with no game in).
Wait about 15 secs for start-up sequence to go.
Press down on d-pad, then X
Wait a couple of seconds, then press up twice on d-pad, then press X
Press left once on d-pad, then press X
then restart machine and should be done.:)

Does any of the mod chips for PS2 actually allow NTSC progressive scan when playing US or Jap games?

In order to get progressive scan from a PS2 game, the game must have built-in support for progressive scan. There are a few titles that support progressive scan, such as:

    - Burnout 2 (USA)
    - Tekken 4 (USA and PAL)
    - The Getaway (USA, PAL)
    - Socom: US Navy Seals (USA)
    - Robotech Battlecry (USA)
    - NBA2K3, NFL2K3 (USA)

There is also a disc available, which enables you to play PS2 games via a VGA adapter. I do not know the specifics, but from what I understand the disc contains codes to enable VGA only in certain games, not all. And I don't know whether the disc works with a PAL PS2.

    Best Regards,
    Olaiho
