PS2 or Apex?

I can not afford a new DVD player i have a ps2 and an Apex dvd player. I was wondering which would have the better 5.1 sound? i dont know the model number on the Apex DVD player. I got it for christmas and never opened it. and dont have the box near me right now.

I am getting a new theater system and want the best possible input to it.

Apex 1100 should be quieter thqn a PS2! why not play same disc in each and see which looks better?
