Quick question about PS2, bear in mind I know absolutely nothing about games consoles so excuse my ignorance, my nephew is getting a PS2 and I was going to get him some games when I go to Florida next week but I was wondering about multi region capability. Do consoles bought from the high street need to be hacked/chipped to handle US games and if so how is this done! Any advice would be greatly appreciated :lease:

The only way to play games in a multi-region fashion is to chip the machine, which unfortunately is illegal after Sony's court hearing awhile back.. there are swap discs and other methods but don't think the forums allows it, try a google search.

There are also region x software by datel that will allow Multi Region DVD playback on PS2s. These are not illegal and are sold in most good games shops.

Yeh ColdKilla is correct, you could buy them from quite a few sites before either pre-modded or just the chips themselves, just glad I got mine before that court hearing lol
