Due to being sent some games from the USA, I need to get my PS2 chipped.

What chip do people recommend? DVD compatibility is not so important as I have a pure R1 player as well as a R2 player.

I've tried to do some locating in the forums and on the web, but am now turning to people here to advise on a good chip, I understand the age of the PS2 is also involved by counting the screws(I'm sure I read that somewhere!!)

My TV can handle a pure NTSC output, do the chips give that as an option?

I believe most work from power up, and without a boot disc now.

    Any comments,websites etc gratefully appreciated

Best PS2 modchip IMO is the Magic 3.1 - check out this place:

    www.psxservices.com

Very good service, give them a try. No problems with NTSC etc and is simple to boot up alll types of discs:

To boot PS2 games and backups just requires a quick press of the power button

To boot all DVD videos and PS1 backups just requires a one-second press of the power button (until the blue light comes up)
