Is it worth getting.
Are the rally stages different to CMR3?
I have it on xbox and think its a vast improvement over CMR3.
I cant put it down (were CMR3 I couldnt be pick it up) the handling model has been vastly improved.
Definatly the best in the series, making it the best rally game yet.
When you race head to head on the XBox, are the cars still separate or do they now share the track at the same time i.e. for when we've had a drink, can we finally ram our mates off the road as with Rallisport?
seperate mate..same track of course but you show as a ghost on the oppenents screen and vice versa..
absolutely stunning game though. Live scoreboards are great and there's also the Codies Hall of Fame where you can input codes from the High Scores menu ingame..
Great game although sadly it is too hard to play drunk.
Do you have more choice over button config?
Could never get used to the manual gear changes on the controller with the preset options in CMR3
Looking to get this at the weekend, have CMR3 on Xbox - thought it was OK but not as good as CMR2 on PS. What do you think ?
My main gripes with 3 (on Xbox) are
Handling - not bad but not great
Tracks - not many and quite repetitive
Only Focus in Championship mode - this is crap
Controlls - pain not being able to config - manual gears is useless for me with std set up
Graphics - not the leap from CMR2 I was expecting
Cars - I thought the line up was ok, guess you can only get the real cars if they are licensed - are they in CMR4?
I've played the demo on Xbox and it certainly seems that the handling is more user friendly than CMR3. I quickly tired of that one as it took so long to get any good at it.
The xbox has by far the best controller for racing games. So i don't know if it would be the same on ps2??
The "L" and "R" triggers are supurb. The best controller for racing after the namco g-con.
How does the Framrate hold up on the PS2 version of Colin Mcrae 04??
I've seen the x-box version running smoothly, but having only seen the 80% complete demo of the PS2 version that came with last months official mag, i'm a little worried as i found the framerate a touch irratic in places.
Can't comment on the PS2 version until I try it out tonight but the Xbox version is amazing, very very smooth.
Another thing which irritated me with CM3 was that the co-driver's road instructions for some parts of some stages came too late where you find yourself crashing.
When you test it can you see if CM4 has this problem (if you've come across this problem before).
perhaps I'm just too fast
Nope I found that last night - he was saying left 100 and it was already too late to slow down or go into a slide and I went into the trees ! Happened a few times last night and after a promising start certainly seems to have gone downhill.
I found the first rally very easy and won by over 40 seconds, the second and third I managed to finish 6th at best and this is where I started to see a delayed co driver instruction. Doesn't help!
