PS Plus: Free Games for October 2015

One brutally difficult platformer, one heart-warming, coming-of-age story. This month’s PS Plus lineup has a great mix of flavors and you’ve come to the right place for the details! Starting on the first Tuesday of the month, a new lineup of free games comes to PlayStation Plus members, including Super Meat Boy and Broken Age on PS4.

Super Meat Boy will challenge even the most devoted platforming players with teeth-grinding levels, insane obstacles, horrible traps, and smiling chunks of meat. Yum! Can you stand against the gory onslaught of near-impossible tasks in Super Meat Boy? You’ll find out soon enough…

If that’s a little too intense, why not point and click at things, instead? Broken Age is joining the PS Plus lineup, too! In it, guide two teenagers through strangely similar circumstances but on two different worlds. With a gorgeous soundtrack and award-winning cast, Broken Age is perfect for gamers that grew up with the adventure genre. Or people that just want to hear some jokes. Jokes are always good.

Last thing! Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition will no longer be available as a free download for Plus members starting on October 6th, 2015. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, be sure to go to PlayStation Store now before October 6th!

For the full PlayStation Plus lineup this month, check the official page on PlayStation.com.

Before you go, we want your feedback! Please leave us a comment below and tell us what you think of the lineup. Thank you for stopping by.

Until next time! Enjoy.

PlayStation Plus in October: Broken Age, Super Meat Boy, Unmechanical, more

The summer is over and the nights are drawing in but on the bright side that means we can spend more time losing ourselves in the world of videogames, with a fresh batch of PlayStation Plus games on their way to your system of choice.

Take note that as of the 6th October we will be removing Driveclub PS Plus Edition from the Monthly Games catalogue so if you haven’t had a chance to download it yet make sure your grab it before it disappears.

Without further ado, here are the games coming your way on 6th October:

Broken Age
The first graphic adventure by Grim Fandango creator Tim Schafer in 16 years, featuring beautifully hand-painted 2D worlds and an all-star vocal cast, including Elijah Wood, and Jennifer Hale.

Broken Age is a timeless coming-of-age story that follows, Vella Tartine and Shay Volta – two teenagers in strangely similar situations, but radically different worlds. You can freely switch between the characters and their individual stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and dealing with the unexpected adventures that follow.

Super Meat Boy
Team Meat’s fiendishly brilliant twitch platformer puts you in the shoes of Meat Boy, a red, cube-shaped character, as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the game’s antagonist Dr. Fetus.

Across more than 300 levels, you must attempt to reach the end of each level, while avoiding crumbling blocks, deadly saw blades, and various other fatal obstacles. The core gameplay requires fine control and split-second timing – prepare yourself for a true test of your gaming skills!

Unmechanical Extended
Set in a fantastic world of flesh, rock and steel, Unmechanical follows a lone robot trapped in an underground complex. A handsome adventure game that combines tricky puzzle-solving, alluring exploration and engrossing atmosphere, it’s easy to pick up and play, but the challenges will truly test your logic, memory and wits.

Also joining PS Plus this month is light-hearted co-op platformer Chariot (PS3 only), wacky side-scroller Kung Fu Rabbit (PS Vita and PS3), and rhythm-based martial arts fighter Kickbeat (PS Vita and PS3).

Leaving PS Plus on 6th October
Don’t miss out! Make sure add any of the games scheduled to leave the service to your download list now to ensure you get to play them.

Not a PlayStation Plus member? Then join today from just £5.49/€6.99 per month. To find out more, visit our PlayStation Plus site

Remember, if you’ve not got access to your PS4, PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store

Super Meat Boy is a brilliant game and should make for a fun Month for those that haven't played it yet.

I completed it(along with most of the dark world levels and DLC) on the Xbox360, not sure if I can go through it all again though, there aren't enough hairs left on my head from the last time around :D

So much for the rumoured AAA title.

Not sure if I'm tenacious enough for Super Meat Boy, but I'm well happy about Broken Age :smashin:

Coop Goodness in Chariot is a bonus too

So much for the rumoured AAA title.

I know it gets rumoured and debated each month, but for me, this line up would have been better than one that included Black Flag..

Delighted to be getting Broken Age i was going to buy it, Super Meat Boy isn't my thing. :D

Good games for me. Love super meat boy. That and papers please are my favourite indie games.

Strange decision dropping Driveclub.

Really? It means people will have to pay for it. It's been that way a good chunk of its life anyway.

I'm a longtime PS fan and customer but have been disgusted by the whole DC debacle and it's pretty much amounted to a sleazy con IMHO. I'm not dissing the game itself or its fans but it should have simply been a full price release all along instead of this "free game" bull they've constantly tried to label it with.

It should stay as a demo. DC was announced as part of the PS4 launch package and its been a mill stone around its neck ever since. The game itself is now extremely good value, I believe £16, which includes season pass. Maybe that's why they're dropping the free version.

Nothing of interest in that lot for me. Funny between this and the X1 selection this must be the first month where i won't be downloading anything.

That was almost this month for me, but downloaded Teslagrad a few days ago.

Broken Age, Unmechanical, Chariot, and to a lesser extent Kung Fu Rabbit means I got a good month.

I'm enjoying Broken Age, although the first 30 minutes were slow and a tad boring. But hits its puzzly stride soon enough.

Well never played Super Meat Boy before and have to say I am loving it so far. Very addictive if at times very rage inducing!

Only tried Meat Boy but deleted after a few rounds. My brain just hates these kind of games and I cannot seem to enjoy them.

Me and SMB:

- Ah this is hard
- Nope, will stop after this try
- Yes, beat the level, try the next
- Ah this is hard
- Nope, will stop after this try
- Yes, beat the level, try the next
- Repeat until the gap between Nope and Yes gets too long

I can certainly see why its critically acclaimed, but it will burn bright and quick for me, just like Olli Olli did..

Completed Broken Age, fully recommended for anyone liking a point and click adventure game. Second half was much tougher than the first, but the game provides neat short cuts to traverse locations and cut scenes quickly.
