Protector Of The Atom - have I messed it up?

I still have the active quest in Megaton regarding the unexploded nuke, I'd rather not have it go off as it'll stop me collecting a Bobblehead later on, but when I make the quest active and follow the marker - the option I'm given is to activate the bomb.

Can I finish the quest without it going off?

Have you spoke to simms yet about diasarming it? don't think you get the option too unless you've spoke to him.

I too was confused by this. 'Activate' in the game means 'Interact with'. If you choose 'Activate' you will get the option: Disarm or Leave it Alone.

You can only get the option to blow it up if you have the part from Mister Burke.

The above post is right - after clicking activate it you get the option to disarm it as long as your skill is high enough. All depends on how mean you want to be to the people of Megaton :) when you decide to disarm it or blow it up!!

Paul try make a save just before you dis-arm so you can go back and do the detonate option aswell. Apparently if you detonate (haven't done it myself) the little cut sequence is a "classic" in game moment :smashin:

I just tried that - only my explosives skill isnt high enough yet so I can't do anything with it. :suicide:

Finding the game quite hard going to be honest, In Oblivion you could just go off for a wander, in this you get your backside shot off - even though I've changed the difficulty to very easy...

Yep very high learning curve. The Devs are trying to get you to follow the story until you are levelled up enough to venture out. I think Mentats will give you a temp explosives boost :smashin:

Good point, although I seem to remember the game saying the bomb was now "safe". Need to do some wheeler dealing and get a copy back in time for the DLC.

I found Oblivion hard to get into also, but suffered with it and ended up putting 118 hours into it - I'm 20 hours into Fallout and struggling to see the appeal if I'm honest.

I'll certainly be doing the same thing when I get the next level up achievement, I won't be doing 3 run through's of it.

Stick with it - I found it tough to get going but am utterly hooked now. The sci fi setting is excellent too

No mate, once you disarm it, if you go back to the bomb it will just say "The bomb has been deactivated and is now safe" or something like that.

I know, because I was hoping to blow Moira up, then blow her to pieces as a ghoul, but couldn't...

I got it don't worry mate :)

I keep having moments where I am playing and then suddenly i look at my watch and it is past midnight having started hours earlier...scary how the time disappears!! Brilliant. I am not a RPG fan normally as I find the wizards, etc settings to be rubbish but this is excellent
