Prosumer Camcorder

Standard Member
Was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a semi-decent over-the-shoulder camcorder on a budget of £1300 - £1800.

Essentially, it's to mess about with but ultimately look professional enough on client visits and to record items such as podcasts, viral ads and the like.

I will be editing on either a Mac or PC dependant on where I am that day.

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

PANASONIC AG-HMC71 at the higher end of your budget, avchd, 3x1/4" ccd progressive. at the lower end SONY HVR-HD1000E HDV, hdv camera single 1/3" cmos interlaced

dont know much about either but your choice would probably come down to whether you want a camera that can film in progressive mode - the panasonic - and whether you want to record onto dv tape - sony - or onto sd cards - panasonic. Also do a search on cmos & ccd to see whether any of the issues may be relevant to what you're likely to be filming
