I loved this movie. It's a perfect combination of western and sci-fi, with a great little story and a beautiful setting.

Nice under the radar film, we get this quite a lot, you come across a film with hardly any publicity, marketing or 200ft billboards but it is a pleasure to watch. This fits that category.
Nice combination of worlds, acting and script.
Would like this in 4k for the visuals alone.
      Thanks Cas.

You make this sound a little like a modern/bigger budget Moon 44 :)

Ha, Moon 44 is on Amazon Prime right now! It's got some fab (i.e. deeply dated, but still quite cute) miniature work in it, terrible acting but a nice Blade Runner atmosphere to it. Directed by Roland Emmerich?!! That's my night's viewing sorted  (although I'm semi-tempted to watch Dacascos in Drive instead...also on Prime)

I think Prospect is much more polished, avoiding the need for miniatures / dodgy effects by being considerably smaller, like a low-key western, in space.

Thanks for review. I have a plan to order a film which is worth-watching. So, thinking of adding it in my shopping list.

Shame to hear that all of the US disc's extras are missing. Thanks for the review though, the film sounds great!

Yeah but the US release was also a BD-R, and looked dodgy as all hell. Probably not worth risking that for a couple of Deleted Scenes and an EPK Featurette.

It's got a commentary too I think. Was the quality of the US one not good then?

Well it comes with a warning that it's an on-demand BD-R printing and *should* play in *most* Blu-ray players. Given it looks to be almost twice the cost, it may be prudent to pick up the cheaper UK version and, if you like the film enough to want to check out the extra features, seek that out as an 'extras disc' which, by that point, may be a little better value.

The movie's available in 4K on the US itunes store (currently it's HD on the UK store).
      CheapCharts
Plus it's got itunes extras of directors' commentary, deleted scenes, etc

I know what I am watching tonight now :)
Im guessing moon 44 was one of RE’s first efforts?
Will also add drive to my watch list, have not seen it for years!

After Moon 44 you really need to watch one of the other 1990 gems....Dark Angel :smashin:

Definitely, Still “back in the day” enough that acting skills were not necessary and one liners made up 50% of the script

Just bought this at Zoom - if you buy using Topcashback, they currently have a £3 Easter holiday bonus which brings the price down to £5.64.

Thanks Cas for the heads up, I really enjoyed this a very refreshing chunk of sci-fi. I mind Tesco used to have the exclusive on Signature Entertainment www.signature-entertainment.co.uk/film/prospect/

      Not for everyone:

      UK artwork:

The US artwork is a bit amateurish (I do prefer the front cover though):

Prospect (2018, Pedro Pascal) bluray unboxing

Will still pickup the US disc at some stage as I'm interested in the film's background.

Well worth a spin for a decent bit of Lo Fi Sci Fi.
Sophie Thatcher and Pedro Pascal make for a believable forced together in trust pairing as gem hunter-gatherers. It may be low on effects but it more than makes up for it with a tightly scripted character development that actually works. There is also enough tension weighted in in some fraught scenes for the characters, as anything worth a damn attracts other crews after it and the requisite religious zealots who decide to make an encampment to spread their dubious faith.
Sort of, nice to see Bubbles from The Wire in the mix.
