Got my Panasonic 42pv500 delivered on Wednesday so thought I'd make quick post on my thoughts
PROS
Pic amazing- very good on sky + which is what it's mostly used for - no sign of ny image retention whatsoever -I previously had the Samsung ps42s5h for a short time and it had awfulimage retention- wheras now honestl I've not noticed a single occasion - this is with a wee girl who likes cbeebies (obviously settings all adjusted for run in.)
Watched Balamory DVD today thru Samsung 950 dvd upscaled to 720p thru HDMI and WOW!
The water intro. at start with the boat looked HD.
NO sign of contrast changes any lines etc or dead pixels so that's all good
CONS
As ive said in a previous post I'm getting slight whistling/ kettle hissing type noise through mostly right speaker as you look but also slightly on left. there is also a slight buzz on light bright images but this isn't a major problem.
Anyway JL re replacing it this WEd so hopefully we can get another one with the same excellent pic but no starange noises :lease:

it will be just the same as the other one, face it plasmas are [Swearing - edited Ekko Star, please read forum rules] :thumbsdow

this just goes to show you cant put one sets problems on the brand itself. My Panny 42 PV500 had image retention nightmares, but is as quiet as mouse. No whistles or buzzes at all. A very slight hum if you literally glue your head to the back, but then that isnt normal viewing.

I'v had the 42PV500 for 3 days.
Pro's:pQ exellent, black lvl's and detail in shadows also very good.
Con's:I'v started to notice a green tint on blacks in most movies, changeing settings has not helped so i guess its a replacment or a Pio.

Will.

My samsung has no image retention and doesn't whistle - is my tv strange or is it me!!!!???

Well i must admit there's been times when I thought it was my ears but as this time my wife can also hear it I've been reassured

I've had my Panny for a week now, brilliant picture, perfect sound, no retention, no line, no whistles (unless I stick my head round the back). But there is still time for a fault to develop - as in all things electrical/electronic.

Ive noticed that green tint on some films rover...but it seems to be the low quality transfers.... a film such as Blade Trinity for example has completely deep blacks with no tint at all.....I wonder if because the PV500 is a HD panel they wont really start to show their worth until true HD sources are available
