Thanks for your replies. Ok looks like I am getting a Pronto

One final question, do I need a docking station with Nicads or do the batteries last a fair amount of time?

Dave, with heavy use my Pronto batteries last around 5 months!
that said, the docking station gives your Pronto somewhere to sit when not in use... But £50!? hmmm... up to you mate.

Forget the docking station...the batteries last for months. 50 quid just for somewhere to sit the remote?! Pah...spend it on DVDs!

I was horrified when my Pronto arrived without the docking station as I thought I had ordered it. I'm not sorry now. Batteries last ages even with liberal use of the backlight. Another thing that would irritate me about the docking station is the mains cable - it's bound to keep getting in the way. A separate battery charger pack would be cheaper if you really want rechargeables.
