I was all set to go and buy a Pronto 940, with docking station, that i can pick up for about £175, but have since found out about the Dell pda for £200 (300mhz version). Can anybody tell me whether the 300mhz pda is suitable, or would it need to be the 400mhz version for better control of my home cinema system.

Any views on the above remote/pda would be greatly received.

I understand that an ir extender would be needed, and remote software for the pda, but the pictures look so much better.

    Thanks in advance

The 300Mhz Axim doesn't include a docking cradle, which costs around £30 extra. Other than that, I can't see why the 400MHz would offer much advantage if you're only going to use it as a remote.

Having said that, I don't actually own one...

Most PDAs can be operated with a finger (nail) but I've always found them to not be as touch-sensitive as the Prontos.

i got a theater master mx 700 with my new processor and was using a rc5200 before that. the marantz has been gathering dust ever since...the theatre master is much better in my opinion - i like buttons better that touchscreens. it worth checking out as the ir range on pdas aren't great, you'll have to get an ir extender as well
