It will be the same 3D release as available everywhere else but at present there isn't much information available on it but it's thought the 3D release will be 4 discs (3D/2D/Bonus BD/DVD) with the digital copy either on the DVD or as a code for online redemption.

I personally have no use for 3D but want the bonus disc so have pre-ordered it to be on the safe side, can always sell off the 3D disc.

Does anyone know when this is actually released? I have it on pre-order with Tesco which says release date the 8th, as do a few sites, but this morning I've had an email of Play saying it's released on Monday (being 1st Oct)??

I am a bit confused, will the 3D version only have the 3D version? Or will it also have a 2D version included. I know I've rented certain 3D titles and they have included 2D version but these details don't seem to clarify that.

Enjoyed this at the cinema despite the plot holes, some of the scenes (sandstorm & ship near the end with all the planets lit up) were truly amazing, can't wait to see it on my TV in 3D as I always find the 3D much better than at the cinema

Does anyone know the aspect ratio it will be in and whether full screen?

The specs I've seen suggest that it's 2.39:1, but the 3D version might be 178:1. I've only got the 2D version, so can't confirm.

3D version is same aspect ratio as the 2D release according to someone on BD Forum who has the disc already.

So not full screen? Bummer, 3D looks so much better when it's full screen, even The Avengers looked pretty good on my TV and part of that was because it filled the whole screen. Same with Avatar

That's what I thought, and the specs suggested - as I said before. But I had seen comments about a possible 1.78:1 though, which I guess were probably from people hoping for a 'full-screen' 3D version - like with Titanic.

totally agree, and so does jim cameron who seems the spokesman for 3D and has easily the best cameras in use. he opened matted titanic for that very reason as he knows that 3D is better at home full screen with no black bars

The bonus disc has the 3+ hour documentary on it and is only with the 3D release.

I watched this at the cinema in 3D and TBH it wasn't that great . But I have pre ordered the 3D special edition because of the bonus disc and I have found my system better for 3D viewing than the cinema.

I find it interesting (cunning) that the 3D release of this movie has more extras. It seems to me like a way to justify 3D, when chances are there will be more people buying the 3D release just for the additional extras rather than for the movie in 3D.

I've pre-ordered the 3D because of the extras. I don't even have a 3DTV but at least it comes with the 2D version

I seriously think that the people buying it for the extras will be something like 80%, rather than to own/watch the 3D version.

It is annoying having to get the 3D release just to get the bonus disc but it was only £2 more and I am sure I will find a buyer for the 3D disc so the 2D film and bonus disc will end up costing less than the regular 2D release.

This reminds me of the DVD releases where one would be just the film disc and for a few quid more you could get the Special Edition with another disc full of extras, only now instead of just getting the bonus disc we also get a copy of the film on 3D BD that we can sell to reduce the price of the set to lower than that of the regular release, might have to start making all my future orders the 3D release if it's only a few quid more.

Sorry, I don't agree with that at all. DVD hardly ever had a standard and Special Edition release (especially not released at the same time). Maybe this might have been something more recent, possibly since Blu-Ray has been around - as I've barley bought any DVD's for quite some time now. Not that it makes much difference anyway. I still think that trying to increase the sales of 3D releases by having unique extras, is really only a way to justify a failing format.

I agree they are trying to artificially increase 3D sales by making extras exclusive to them so they can point and say 'look 3D is selling well' when a certain number of those sales will be solely down to people like me wanting the extras and not the 3D film.

Looks like this will be my first 3D blu then, also just after the extras. Wouldn't usually be that bothered but I'm very intrigued to find out more about the film. I guess that's what Fox are relying on! Just wish I'd preordered it when it was £15 at Sainsburys. It's £18 now, anyone know of a cheaper price anywhere? Also, do they usually have the same prices in store?

Even though they have raised their price I think they are still the cheapest around and I believe their instore prices are higher as I remember The Hunger Games exclusive was £12.99 online but £14.99 instore.
