I am looking to buy a projector to replace my TV.
Can anyone recommend a good projector for this.

I was looking on ebay for some second hand ones.

Are there any details to look out for.

    Any help or offers appreciated.

    Regards Peter King.

I use my Panasonic AE100 and the ProV (TV tuner and scaler) for use as a TV.

It's a very effective solution and is impressive even in a moderately lit room. However, I do find the size and brightness (relative to the rest of the room) quite imposing so don't use it for run-of-the-mill TV like the news and weather. I tend to use it more for feature dramas and sport, and use the normal TV for other TV viewing.

I wouldn't recommend trying to totally replace a TV with a projector. Sometimes a smaller, less imposing image is more appropriate.

I use my AE100 the whole time. Quite happy here.

The ProV made a huge improvement to my setup. But then I'm doing DVD playback through the XBox, which is not progressive scan (but infinitely better than the PS2).

I found the ProV made the image considerably sharper, with less artifacts, and with better brightness and contrast control. I'm very happy with the end result. You can always return the product, if it doesn't improve your own setup.
