Please can anyone help. I have just purchased a projector (Sony HS10) and while the image is OK on the wall, I am looking to find the best screen within my budget. I think the screen size wil be about 96" wide and a gain of 1.2-1.3. I am not fussed whether it is fixed screen or not. I have about £400 left to spend on one - any ideas on where to look?

    www.av-sales.com
    www.nexnix.co.uk

or just keep an eye out on this forum.

My advice would be to hold off for a while and get used to the picture from your projector. At the moment it's new and you haven't got accustomed to it's foibles, that's not meant to be derrogatory, just that after a few weeks of viewing you may decide that a 1.2/1.3 gain screen doesn't give you the black level that you desire and you may decide on an alternative screen

Do a search on this forum for 'grey' (Dulux Icestorm) screens and see if it's something you want to try.

    Sorry. Post edited.

Don't you just love those sites who simply choose a different domain hoping unsuspecting surfers will happen upon them. I remember one that caught me was moneycentral . I'll leave you to try the domains (if it is still the same).

    Steve,

Harkness Hall will sell you 1.3 gain screen material.

Don't have the address to hand but check out my website for links, some info on DIY screen building (with proper material) and additional screen resources.

I built a 96" 16:9 screen for about 200 euro! And it works really really well. (No auto-masking Matt, sorry).

Well worth looking into if you want an excellent screen on a budget.

    Peter
