    Take, for example, the infocus 4805. How can it display 720p images when it's resolution is only 480 lines?

    It scales (fits) the image to the size of it's panel. Hence the advantage of a 1280x720 panel projector for 720p material -minimal scaling (which can introduce artifacts) needed.
