    hi all,

Im a noob in this area and this will be my first purchase. Iv spotted 3 that i like but am unsure which to go for and would like some advice.

Optoma hd 25- 749 brand new

    Optoma hd 80- 300- 3 years old

    benq w1070- 699 brand new

It will be used for movies and games, 3d isn't a selling point for me as i already own a 3d tv. picture quality is though and the optoma can be purchased this week but the benq i would need to raise some more funds but im in no rush.

Any help would be would be nice

W1070 can be had for £639 from RS if you use their VIP voucher (free signup needed). The price is advertised at £699 but instore it's £649.

Did you just look on the shelf, or actually ask someone to scan it for you?

I'm planning on buyin the benq1070. Phoned the Glasgow branch yesterday, asked the guy the price if I was in store buying it he said 699. Asking about the 650 he said they had sold it cheaper but it was 699 the now, might change when stock re-appeared.

Got to be the HD80 out of those surely?

HD80 was a £2200+ pj and has the bigger dlp chip than its replacement.

Good to know. Im gonna pass on the 1070 though. Think i will pay the extra and get a hd25 that was released today. Might hold back a few days to see what reviews say but on pure specs it looks good.

What difference does the chip make?

has the chip in budget not caught up to a 2k projector in 4 years

I did pass on the projector, it went for 300 plus the price of a bulb.

No, it scans at £699 (it did when I bought it yesterday), but it comes with a 5 yr guarantee that I think was an extra £70ish the other day.

Wow, that's a pretty good deal. Yeah I paid £639.99 and the warranty was an extra £70 as you say.
