Being a lover of CRT 'sharpness',i had more or less told myself to wait a few years for LCD sets that will be 50" or more.

I have been won over by projectors now.

    I have been offered a sharp z10000 for £5500.

I like the look of the Sim projectors though.

Any advice would be most welcome.

    Thanks.

you need to demo mate get a demo of the Z10k and a Sim2 demo should be easy to find, ideally at the same place, same screen, same material etc etc

Agreed, you would be mad to spend that amount of cash on a projector without a proper demo :) sim projectors are amazing though, better than anything ive seen tbh :)

I saw the Z10k going today.I was really impressed with The Two Towers running on it....the image seems brighter than i ever though a projector could produce.I was just wondering why they could sell it so much less than the rrp.( is there a new model coming out etc)

If i buy one i want to make sure it has the tech for the future high def formats...i don't really want to have to upgrade fo awhile if i buy one.

Thanks for your comments.I will ask for a demo of the Sim models.

The 10k has already been discontinued and replaced by the 12k aka 11k in Japan.

    woo..thanks for that.

I am going to demo a z12000 when my local sevenoaks has one in stock.

It sounds like it could be the answer to my projector buying dilemma.

Also consider the Digital Projection Ivision Which has just dropped to a ridiculous £5500/£5000 if you look online!!!
Very small unit that easily competes with other £5 DLP units and well worth a look if the Z12k is over budget!
