The first part has closed early. I need not reiterate too much, other than remind members as to the rules, particularly paying close attention to what is edited ... we do all see the email notifications as subscribers!

    So keep on topic, please.

I would also suggest that people are mindful of their positions as stakeholders in the Project C.A.R.S game itself and what constitutes as essentially advertising (rule seven on forum rules).

While I can't enforce this, bear in mind that it may otherwise be easily misconstrued by other members. I need not name names, but the discussion will be locked if it turns into what the moderating team feel is advertising by significant stakeholders - that is, those who've invested at a certain level and above, trying to promote a product.

    Otherwise, enjoy.

So for those of you that haven't got a wheel setup anymore like me, how does it handle on a pad?

Not played in on a pad since a fairly early build and it was poor, but then it wasn't great on a wheel back then either. I would guess that newer builds will be better on a pad, especially with the console focus the game now has, but haven't tried them (on a pad).

My experience on an early build with the 360 pad was largely positive. I would have thought something like the Razer Onza would be fun to tinker with too, what with it having the adjustable analogue sticks.

I just didn't feel any connection between the car and the road when I tried it, unlike say forza 4 on the Xbox which feels pretty good using a pad. I did used to like playing GTR2 and GTR Evo on a pad as well, but found my experience of this poor. It was a pretty early build however and given the developers pedigree, I would expect it to work well on a pad in the end.

Works pretty well with a pad IMO.

Yes with some of the aids on it works well with an Xbox 360 controller.

I found the DTM Audi was pretty good, but a couple of the other vehicles at the time felt strange. I'd quite like to try something akin to the Caterham in-game, having had the pleasure of thrashing the balls off one around the Yorkshire dales for my birthday this year, but I will wait patiently (mainly for gaming time).

My favourite was the Formula B, but yeah the DTM car did feel pretty decent as well. I've always been tempted by hiring a Caterham super sport and there's a place near me (I'm in the east riding of Yorkshire) so I will probably dabble sometime. Sounds like a great laugh.

That's exactly where I hired from - Stamford Bridge :) Would be good to be able to see how accurately vehicles translate - particularly the Caterham as it's quite raw.

Yep that's the place I've looked at, just a few miles down the road from me :). It is always great to compare real life cars to in game versions.

Got Junior membership (10 euros) last night and had a go at build 249 and overall I like it - only tried a handful of cars but the Zonda was great fun to drive. Can't say it was realistic or not as never driven a real one :D but def enjoyed it in game around Imola.

A few of the other cars felt a little weird in terms of handling, like Formula A - hoping it's something that has been improved for next build or that I can improve myself with a bit of work on car setup.

Wanted to try the Azzure tracks as screenshots looked nice - but they are not available for Juniors... oh well... :(

I don't like the formula A much either. The formula B is much more fun.

Yeah, as said was just a bit strange, felt very jumpy/twitchy at the slightest input on steering wheel so was difficult to position going into corners. Will try the Formula B tonight then. :smashin:

I think the devs themselves have said the formulaA needs a lot more work.

Incidently, I guess I must be imagining things because I actually thought they had closed up new signings and that there were no junior memberships. Glad I was wrong however and you managed to get on kirki.

My favourite cars are probably the Radicals (Racers in game), the Palmer Jag and the Caterham Classic.

Looks like I'm not useless after all, just done a 1:35 at the current event (Lotus 49, Historic Monza) :smashin:. Top 50 in the world :p.

How come real track names aren't used ? Are they copyrighted or something ?

Slightly Mad Studios haven't got the license to use the real name. Apparently you can't copyright a race track so you can create an exact replica as long as you don't use the real name. I don't mind as it saves money to get licenses for cars which you do need to get a license for to use in game.

Another interesting thing is that you are allowed to make cars that are similar to their real life counterparts. However there must be 3 major differences to the design. If there isn't then you can get into trouble for trying to pass something off as the real version.

Before the Lotus license was acquired the Leonus 49 had a big spoiler that the real Lotus didn't.

I'm not a manger so not sure if the build from a couple days ago has done anything the the Formula A's handling: -

    Plus today's build states;

Also not till the new tyre models & FFB is implemented will we know how things will pan out & agree Formula B is better & around Connecticut it's a great for immersion & sense of speed.

Most tracks are just named after the town/city/region they're located in. Seems weird that you need a license to use that name in a video game !

It is a pity they didn't get the real name for Donington!

Simply Sausages Donington Park Race Track! Love that!

I expect most people know already but they have the license for most of the Motorsports Vision tracks so will add:

    Brands Hatch
    Oulton Park
    Snetterton
    Cadwell Park

They have not been made yet and last I saw they will be laser scanned so probably that is why they are coming later. There's also a licensed New Zealand track where they race V8 Supercars etc and some classic events.

I'm not sure if the situation is the same with the tracks as with the cars but there has certainly been evidence of 'build it first as we are hopeful to get the license anyway as things progress'. It has worked out with the four classics Lotus cars already.

Excellent, I love brands hatch, and I used to be able to hear the races from my parents house from Oulton Park.

(also used to be able to go and watch for free as a child as there was a hole in the hedge...... its all fixed up these days however).

is this crossfire friendly? I'm thinking of getting it, but I want to make sure it is as my GPU is internally crossfired so can't really be disabled if it causes problems

Yes it works with crossfire. You have to modify the game shortcut I think but it does work. There is plenty info on the forums about it.

CARS sure looks the business! Rain effects are coming along nicely, especially as this is the 'first pass' from reading the release notes.

I'm currently loving driving around Bathurst and Hockenheim in the two Caterhams and the feeling is fantastic.
