I guess the Denon rep is alluding to the fact that you can have progressive scan within the digital domain within a DVD player before an analogue signal is sent to a display, or a De-interlacer (iScan) between the DVD and the display or progressive capability within the display like most Plasmas.

The conversion within the DVD player being the pure and more desired option.

    Nigel,

    Yours is a better description.

    Nick,
Direct digital may not always be best.

How about Samsung progressive scan as available on the htm140/htm150 home cinema systems. Got one of these and its described by samsung as progressive scan yet can not do ntsc, their is no progressive scan option in the menus and it has no component out sockets.
