Progressive scan via Amp?

    If I route a normal video signal (from a satellite receiver box, either via s-video or composite) through a receiver that has component upconversion feature does this make the signal output from the receiver into a progressive scan signal?

    No- interlaced in = interlaced out unless you happen to have a Yamaha DSP Z9. By the same token, if you put a progressive component signal through an amp, it generally comes out the other end progressive as well.
