    hi

i have just spent a lot of money on the Denon DM51DVS which I was told had progressive scan capability - however, my (albeit limited) understanding was that progressive scan was only achievable by connecting through RGB components. My new dvd player doesn't seem to have a "component out" so can someone tell me how on earth its going to achieve progressive scan without this?

I know I am going wrong somewhere, it's just where????

I think you have been mislead.

Progresive scan can only be achived if you connect the dvd player to a tv that has componenet inputs, and your dvd player has componenet out puts.

I also find this description on their web site very dubious:

More lines of the screen?

well at least it was how i understood it - i tell you something though, having scoured the internet, it's amazing how many websites out there advertise this model as progressive scan when it quite clearly isn't

unfortunately, in my "research" i was told it was progressive scan, then i shopped around and bought it from the cheapest supplier who hasn't actually said it's progressive scan - so i'm stuffed really

should have done a bit more research i s'pose :(
