I'm in the search for the same thing so hopefully someone can help us out here! I'm in the process of having a standalone room built at the end of the garden and am desperately seeking some good signs (dolby digital etc)

The Harman Kardon DVD25 does NTSC & PAL prog scan I believe and retails at £350.

    This one.

I've never seen it in action but it's apparently very good (WHF review).

You want to check the dvd payers forum on here, there's loads of similar posts on this. Your current choices for mid range Pal Progressive are as follows though

    HK dvd 25 and 30 (£300 & £400)
    Philips 963 (£310)
    Sony 930 and 730 (£240 & £150)
    Marantz 2500? (£250)
    Yamaha S540 (£120)

    Hope this helps

    Tim

    Hold Everthing!

JVC are about to release a Pal Prog DVD recorder for about £450 next month.

The massive advantage is that you will be able to watch TV in progressive on your projector via component cables.

This will be a vast improvement for watching live football and esecially Grand Prix on you big screen due to all the moving diagonal lines.

It also means you can watch films straight off the telly, saving you renting or buying all the time.

I already use my philips recorder for this but plan to upgrade to the JVC for the progressive scan.

    Cheers,
    Cal.
