i have a nec 1300a dvdr drive and and a 16x dvd rom drive amd athlon 3200 running windows xp.
the problem is whenever i use my cd drives with another application 7 times out of ten it locks up so i press clear alt del to end program and it says this.
Nero is not responding or powerdvd is not responding when i try to end program nothing happens.
When I play a game though or run an app it works straight away

i should imagine, either Nero or PowerDVD require exclusive use of your DVD drive.

Are you using your DVD drive as a "reader" or "source" drive for Nero by any chance?

if you're using your dvd drive as a source in Nero, then i imagine you can only use either program at a time, and not both at the same time.

Just looked at the ASPI settings in nero tool and it says ASPI installation is corrupted, what does this mean?

ASPI is a communication layer between the software and hardware.

You can download ASPI drivers from the web. Check Nero's website first, then do a search on the web.
