I'm interesting in using Media Center (the Vista version) but the one feature I really want is to be able to program it to record programmes over the Internet. So often I've been out and then realized that I've forgotten to set something to record! Since I have an iPhone with a fully functional browser I wondered if there was any way to access my PC over the Internet and set Media Center to record something.

A colleague has Sky+ and a very cool app for his iPhone which allows him to browse a Programme Guide on his phone, then set his home Sky+ system to record something from it. I would love to be able to do that but I don't have or want Sky!

    Sorry pushed for time...

Search for "WebGuide" (Though it doesn't work with Fiji TV Pack)

Thanks for the tip, I went to the site and downloaded the stuff, it looked good. I couldn't get it to install properly but I'm sure I could given time - it's the UltiDev Cassini part that doesn't seem to work. However, it seems that this project has been abandoned now after the guy who ran it was bought out by Microsoft. Which is a real shame because it looks excellent and it's exactly what I was after.

I'll still give it a go but does anyone know of any alternatives?

Webguide is still the best. However you can also try Orb but it caused a few issues with my MCE.

Orb looks really good and I may give it a try, especially for the option to stream to my iPhone, but it doesn't look as if it allows for remote scheduling of recordings. I'll keep trying to get WebGuide to work for that functionality.

Orb does allow for remote scheduling of recording.

I believe the difference is that orb scheduling is independant from the media center scheduling (does its own recordings on your PC). Webguide on the other hand gives a remote access to the Media Center scheduling.
