Wondered if anyone tried ProFoam for acoustic treatment in rooms? Seems to be a lot cheaper than Auralex (the UK price for which is double the US price  ).

Only found one review in this forum by Allan Probin but wondered if anyone else had tried it or if Allan has any more updates on his experience with it.

I have had problems with echo since setting up my HC room and I'm ready to tackle them at long last!

    Thanks,

I hear a rumour that they may be an interesting Power Buy of acoustic room treatments soon so don't do anything hasty and full details will be revealed soon.

Check out the forthcoming powerbuy Paul!:smashin:

Although it's not that much cheaper than Auralex, you can get either the Alpha 1 or the Alpha DST kit online for £410 (incl VAT) which compares well to the standard SIAB polyflex kit for £360 (excl VAT - ie £423 all told).

I've recently installed a D36 kit in my listening room for the princely sum of £170 and can vouchsafe for it's effectiveness.

Paul - I had major echoes and a very bright room till I treated it, I went with the 2" Pyramids from Auralex and the change is startling. Room treatments should be the first thing on anyone's list for home cinema, you'll see what I mean when you hear the difference.

    Hi Phil,
I went round the house doing the "clap" test, the worst room is of course the HC room :( I knew that I had problems but hadn't realised just how bad it was.

I had a look at the Auralex but the Profoam looks to be better value. Roughly the same qualities but the Auralex is more expensive ( in the UK) for what you get. No question that either brand will do the job though and do it very well.

Roll on the PowerBuy (hoping its for ProFoam!)

As well as RPG and Auralex there's Primacoustic importred by Sonic Distribution who do full room kits. Also there's Sonex, Soundsorba and on and on.

CPC, RS and Studio Spares have some own brand panels that seem to work out cheaper than branded ones.

To make my life more complecated I've contacted a few 'foam convertors' to see if and what they can supply to my own specifications.

Not a wind up but not all Power Buys come off for a variety of reasons. I will enquire further about this one.
