    This is such a shame. My VCR is shot and I'm supposed to payout stacks only to have to pay out stacks later on. And if I want playback I have to use 3 different formats.

    Get real.

    DVD R/W is here now on PCs. Put it into VCRs, e-mail philips, sony et al and complain

    Hmmm, bit steep I agree.

    Though I bet that £2.5k pricetag drops like a stone after a few months, and when competition starts appearing.
