Not only limited to the PMDT (though unfortunately you must have one to make the PVP work) but it can also take external video signals and convert them to PS (progressive scan @ 480p) in PAL and NTSC:

    Not anymore it can't!

In the Uk due to some law of some sort, we are not getting the input card yet!

    Aaaarrgghh!!

The price before losing the input card was £1500 retail, so hopefully this has gone down to about £1000.

What's the price of the player? Are you better off buying it with card(s) in place?

The palyer is £5,500 at the moment , rising to approx £6,250 very soon, due to the exhcnage rates of the $ and £.

It is best to buy it with the card in place, because otherwsie you will have to take it back to get it fitted anyway.

GBP5500 with our without the card!?

I thought it's "only" USD5000 for the player (without PVP)!?

However GBP1500 for the PVP is a bit OTT, too, IMHO.

Hell, there goes my dream ....

Hey, if you're ever over here in England, feel free to drop in and you'll probably get a demo.

The price is £5.5k at the moment, but due to it being an import and the exchange rate going all over the place they are going to charge more, I think this may include the PVP output board also though (He says wishfully!).
The PVP was £1.5k with the input board, so it should be no more than £1k now.

You are still free to dream though...

That's typically crazy. It may be competitive at $5k but not at £5k. I'd rather look at the Meridian 800 or the Tag player for that sort of money. Also soon available with video processing cards within. (Meridian's is third party for the moment).
