Problems with xbox 360 controller on windows

    I installed the software for the xbox 360 wired controller, and then connected it to the PC and you get the 'found new hardware' after that it shows a request for the 'xusb21.sys' for 'xbox 360 wireless reciever for windows install disk needed'

    Is that windows xp?

    Only saying because i plugged my wired controller into vista and it worked with no install at all

    You need either the official Microsoft driver or the XBCD driver

    I use the XBCD driver

    Still comes up the same message and XBCD has a blank box next to device

    This might sound silly but it is the official wired controller you're trying to use ?

    might help to explain how, what the problem was, so that if someone else has the same problem and does a search, they can fix it without having to ask...
