Hi all So my gf bought a second-hand PC the other day to replace her Dad's dying machine. She brought it home and I tried to connect it via ethernet to our home network. However, it wouldn't connect. The problem is that the ethernet port is simply not recognised It doesn't appear in Device Manager. It does however light up orange and green when an ethernet cable is plugged in. The PC is running Win XP, and the motherboard is an Intel D865GLC. I have tried downloading drivers from the Intel Downloads site, but the PC just tells me there's no ethernet port to apply the driver to. I'm stuck now, and am pulling my hair out. I don't want this problem to beat me!!! Any ideas what I could do to try to resolve this? I've built approx 10 PCs in the past with no problems, though admittedly they've been with brand new motherboards and I've had the appropriate motherboard disk each time.
