CAN SOny accept DTS 5.1 via optical input? HAve you selected DTS sound track from disc and is E55 set to output bitstream? I think it may be SONY's lack of external DTS support.....But there are some PS2 games with DTS 4.0 SSSX Tricky for example....

E55 on Bitstream causes sound to make white noise. Movies are fine in DTS and DD5.1

Basically I loaded the CD into the E55 and it came up on the box as a DTS-CD. I then set my Sony amp to Auto, to detect the DTS signal, but it only plays in 2 channel. I can then select Pro Logic 2 to get multi-channel sound but it's not really how I wanted it.

Just checked the manual online and it seems that the E55 outputs DVD-Audio in only 2 channels :(

I presumed it would just play in DTS.

there is no menu option, it is just a DTS-CD. I think it maybe down to the fact the E55 cannot play DVD audio tracks in 5.1, only 2.0 :(

If it's a 5.1 DTS sound track then it should output 5.1 channels. On DVD-Audio it mixes down to 2 channels but this only applies to DVD-Audio DVD's.
