    Morning all.

So I’ve bought a Harmony Elite, and ready to throw it out of the window! I’ve tried to set it up via the app, but I get a message saying the remote needs an update and I need to do it via a PC. This in itself was massively annoying as I don’t have a PC!

I’ve borrowed a laptop and got the Harmony desktop software, registered my account, setup the remote and synced it via USB.

I try to connect to the hub again with the app and am still getting the same message! According to the remote when it’s connected to the desktop software, it’s up to date.

I’ve looked on the Harmony site, and it says updates for the Elite are via WiFi - but I can’t access WiFi to do it because I can’t connect to the hub!

I’ve tried deleting and installing the app and downloading the old app, but nothing is working at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before if goes back in the box and gets returned. These things are supposed to make life easier, not more complicated!

    Rob

I'd like to say the same, in that both mine and a friends remote are doing similar. The remote is saying a software update is required to sync your harmony remote. Sign in to my harmony etc.

As above i thought the whole point was it was all done wirelessy. That's how my remote first updated when I bought it. Is there some sort of bug at the moment?

    Thanks for the reply!

So I’ve registered an account and gone through the setup on the Harmony desktop app. I’ve added my devices and favourite channels, then synced them onto the remote via USB. I’ve also re-synced the remote later without adding anything new, just in case that would perform an update.

There’s currently no option to sync wirelessly on the remote, and the iOS app is saying I need to update the remote before I can connect to the hub.

    :)
    You haven't mentioned Activities!
Have you got them, and do they work?

Yes, I’ve set a couple up and they kind of work - If I press ‘Watch a Movie’ the TV and amp work but the PS3 doesn’t turn on.

That's because the PS3 uses bluetooth controllers not infra red.

I know, but when it’s working the Hub does control Bluetooth and hence the PS3. It’s one of the reasons I bought an Elite rather than a cheaper version.

OK, so that explains why it's only the hub that's causing problems.
If you can't get it to work report the matter to Logitech Support, before returning it!

Thanks for the help guys :)

I’ve just got home from work and logged on to the Harmony desktop, a huge ‘Upgrade your Harmony remote’ button had appeared that wasn’t there last night! From there I’ve set everything up and it’s all working perfectly. Now my wife can turn on the TV, amp, PS3 and Sky box without using 4 remotes :rotfl:

I`m setting mines up when I get home at the weekend and hopefully it`ll be the same for my missus. :)
Looks like my Friday night is sorted :)
