Problems Installing MS Office

Distinguished Member
I am having problems installing MS Office 2007 on my laptop which has vista installed. I have had no problems installing MS Office on two of my vista pc's. I also borrowed a copy from a friend and tried his disc and I get the same error which is:

Can anyone shed any life on this? My laptop has user account control turned off and it has MS Works installed on it. I was thinking of removing MS works and see if that effects it but its the only way I can read my excel and words files at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Looks like I found the same page as you. Anyway I fixed it with this:

1. Click Start menu-> Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box and press Enter.
2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup; click to clear the
and "Load Startup Items" check boxes. You cannot clear the "Use Original
Boot.ini" radio button.
Note: You can click the Normal Startup radio button to return to the normal
Windows Startup after the test.

3. Click the "Services" tab. Check "Hide all microsoft services", click
disable all. If the "disable all" is not available, please just skip it.
4. Click the "Startup" tab, click "disable all". If the "disable all" is
not available, please just skip it.

5. Click OK.
6. Restart the computer and try to install Office 2007 again.
