Problem with subwoofer

I tried to use my surround system today after a few months break but I've found that my sub has become alot louder. I've had to turn the volume down on it from 10'oclock to around 8 o'clock. I'm abit worried there might be a fault with it. Does anyone know what could have happened?

Any chance the channel levels in the amp have reverted to their defaults?

Any chance that the gain could have been knocked during dusting.cleaning?

It doesn't sound like there's much wrong otherwise.
