i have an old samsung dvd player downstairs (DVD-E232) and recently the sound has been playing up. there seems to be an excessive amount of background noise, sometimes unbearable. no settings have ever been changed on it! its connected via rca.

just wondering if anyone had any ideas or if theres a quick fix.

or if its on its way out...

    thanks

    Hi,
First of all do you have to turn the volume up a lot on the TV etc to get any sound from the DVD, or is the hissing high volume anyway?. It may be the case that you have volume control on your DVD player set low (if it has onboard volume settings) and by turning the volume up you're amplifying both the low-volume audio and the low-volume hissing hence the issue.

    Let me know.

    Dan.
