Problem with Phillips DVDR70

My dad has got a Phillips DVDR70 and i've watched a couple of films that he recorded.
I played them in my BUSH 2023 dvd player and found that occasionally the picture freezes for about 4 or 5 seconds and then continues to play ok.
Is this likely to be a problem with either his recorder, media(Packard Bell dvdrw) or my player.

Thanks for any help.

Maybe this would go away if you did a "make edits compatible" on the DVDR70 before playing on the BUSH.

how do you "make edits compatible" and what exactly does it do.
Sorry for asking but i know nothing at all about dvd recorders.
thanks

Using the DVDR70, on the blue index menu screen, you press the "up" button to get past the recordings thumbnails to the first item, which corresponds to the whole disk. Then you press "right", and you'll see you can rename the disk,"make edits compatible" and a couple of other things.

But very likely your problem is someting else (fingerprints would be my guess)

Or it could be a case of the Bush not liking +RW.Does it happen with +R aswell.

My dad only has +RW so i dont know if it would do it on +R or not.
Until now my DVD player has played everything perfectly so i thought it was maybe a fault on the philips recorder.
