A friend of mine has a 32" Sony Wega TV and has just bought a Sony all-in-one (DAV-S880 ). First surprise is that the all-in-one does not have any Scart sockets so he is using a Scart to S-Video lead.

Problem: R2 PAL discs play just fine but R1 NTSC discs are in black and white and give a scrolling effect at the top of the screen. The retailer says his TV is at fault as it cannot accept an NTSC S-Video signal via the Scart socket. Sony tell him this is absolutely untrue and if it was how would they sell these TVs in the US.

Anyone got any ideas as to why it won't accept an NTSC S-Video signal on the Scart 2 socket?

    Thanks.

If its like the Tosh, the AV input is default to AV-video in. You have to select the AV input on the TV's menu to s-video, then everything should be OK.

    Hope this works,

    Messiah,

You need to enable NTSC for S-Video inputs, as it's not enabled by default.

This is done in the service menu.

Do a search, it was covered quite recently, as well as a few times n the past. Instructions in a few of those threads.
