Right, I set this up at the weekend. My setup is as below

    Panny PW6
Denon 2900 via component and digital coaxial to amp
Denon 3805 component to vga to plasma
    Aegis Evo 3B

Everything is working great apart for two things.

    1. My rear surrounds are not recognised by the amp. In the picture of the speaker setup on the amp it shows that they are there. However when I press T.Tone it sends the test signal to all my other speakers but the back two are silent. Now the thing which really confuses me is that in a film they are working  Because of this I can not seem to get any 6.1 films to play the correct sound, only in 5.1.

    2. Secondly when I play DVD audios I get no sound at all. The picture is there but the sound is silent.

I do not think the amp is broken just that I am doing something wrong. I have looked in the manual but there is no troubleshooting section.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks, Russ

Sorry if it seems like a stupid question, but are you connecting your DVD player using the Analogue multi channel inputs? I seem to think you can only listen to DVD Audio and SACD using that connection.

No I am not. So I would just connect the normal L R on the dvd player to the amp ?.

Couple of things, the Aegis Evo 3B is it this one, if so isn't it a 5.1 speaker system? If so why is it your trying to get a 6.1 soundtrack to play instead of a 5.1 soundtrack?

On your 3805 setup, do you have your rear speakers set to the SR/SL or RR/RL? They should be set as SR/SL as the rear right and left are for a 6.1/7.1 setup.

For DVD-A you have to connnect to the 3805 using the analogue outputs of the 2900, that is the 5.1/6.1 outputs, not the stereo outputs.

    Cheers

No, if your DVD player does DVD Audio then it should have 6 analogue outputs on the back which need to be connected phono -> phono to the Amp's Multi Channel inputs.

I believe that is the only way to listen to it.

Edit - Beaten to it :)

I paid for an extra set of backs to make it 7.1

I am at work at the moment so cannot look but isn't the mic meant to auto set it all up?. When I use the mic it does not let out any sound, it does not appear to do anything.

Where do I go to change the way the speakers are setup ?

    Right, I am back home.

Rscott, I cannot seem to find the menu you are talking about. Do you mean are they wired in correctly ?

If I go to the speaker setup and select surround a, the normal surround L and R's work. If I change it to surround b. The two which would be numbers 6 and seven come on and the normal ones are silent, all looking good !! but when I select surround a and b only the normal surround l and r's work.

If you look at the above picture my speakers are all plugged in left to right. There are no speakers connected to the last two sections, is this correct?, they are for multi room are they not ?

I don't have a 3805 but I'm pretty sure with all amps that have the function, the surround A/B is for having two different types of surround speaker, one for AV and one for multichannel audio. Your surround speakers should be connected to Surround A, your rears should be connected to Surr.Back... Not Surround B...

Sorry, RTFM'd and you are indeed correct. The speakers were wired up wrong.

    Thanks for your help.
