I'm happily playing with my newly bought Denon 2805, but I have a problem - I simply can't change the input source using the remote control!

I have to get up and use the select knob on the amp every time I want to change the input source. I dunno if I have pressed something I shouldnt have, but this has been driving me nuts all day! All the other remote functions seem to be fine.

Any ideas you 2805 experts? :lease:

Try pressing the Amp button first - one of the clear buttons (that lights red)at the top (also has CDR/MD) printed on it.

This will put the remote in amp control mode. Then use the yellow buttons (The number pad) to switch between components as marked above the yellow buttons.

I was a bit confused at first - trying to use the clear buttons to select components when in fact these clear buttons select the remote control function of the component once the remote has been set up (learned) to their codes.

I'm glad its not just me being thick!

I think the manual is vey confusing and working out what you do on the main unit and what via the remote is tricky. Still, it sounds great, which is what I paid my hard-earned dosh for!

It's not very intuitive I agree. It's best not to think (use the Force!). My wife cannot work it but my 5 year old daughter has no problems. Wait till you configure it to operate all your other equipment with the learn function. Trying to remember what does what is a lot of fun. I had a conversation with my wife through our closed front door this morning about which button changes the aspect ratio on the TV - I must of told her a million times. No disrespect to other females out there!

if you are asking 2805 owners in general, i am running Tannoy Sensys DC2s at the front (off a NAD c272 power amp) , a Tannoy mxc-m centre, and MA b1 for surrounds, and a musical fidelity mc-2 for the back surround

    lovely!

    Hi

I am using the acoustic energy evo 3b - very good match in my opinion.

With the evo3's at the front it plays very well with music as well - better than the yamaha 1500 I had for a week on demo. The sub is also very tunefull and adds even more weight punch to the evo 3's with music without making the bass slow or muddy.

    Highly recommended.

I'm using mine in 6.1 configeration, which is great, but this system is solely for TV/DVD watching - I have a separate audio system for CD's, so can't really give you any helpful info about the 2805's music playing capabilities.

    Cheers

I am using marantz hollywood speakers with my 2805, same as MS premier with 308 sub, hopefully will be getting 309 sub soonish.
They are mainly for tv,dvds hardly play music, very pleased with them for price.

Also using Kef 2005.2 Eggs in 6.1 set up, and absolutely delighted with the result.

My 2805 replaced a 2802 and the results are well worth the dosh it cost to upgrade.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

At the moment I'm using Mission M71i's on the front (only 'till I get my 773's repaired),
a 75c, 77ds's on the side surrounds, pair of Wharfedale 100 se pro's for surround backs and a M&K vx4 sub.
VERY happy with the overall sound ATM,will be using the M71i's as S/Back channels soon (I hope), and have my eye on a Castle classic sub in my local HI-FI dealers.
I too had the same prob with the remote till I read the instruction's,but now all is well, and have set it up to control all my other kit.

    TTFN,

    Graham.
