hi i'm no expert on dvd's but i purchased a r2 sd dvd of casino on these forums.

on the rear case it says dual layer 2:35:1 widescreen and appears to be the genuine universal disc and case.

when i view the movie on my xbox360 all i get is a small letterbox view - not widescreen.:(

have tried playing the movie on my htpc via power dvd and it will stretch to widescreen but with huge boarders.

any advice on this would be appreciated.

btw all my other r2 sd dvd's are playing perfectly

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but doesnt 2.35:1 ratio show with the black bands on every tv - I just watched the third Harry Potter film and that shows as 2.35:1 and it had the letterbox bands on it.

Yes, was going to say that, but I thought everybody knew that.

Could it be that that release of Casino wasn't anamorphic ?

i have other films with 2.35:1 ratio which have a small band top and bottom but with casino i have a 9cm band left and right and 8cm band top and bottom!

Something wrong there - you certainly shouldnt have bands left and right - have you tried changing the aspect on your tv, the only time I get bands left and right is when its set on 14:9 or 4:3 for a widescreen film.

i have checked and it's definitley not an issue with my panel :(

it's almost a 3 hour film on one disc...would that have anything to do with it?

The original single disc release of Casino was non-anamorphic, hence the bands left and right as well as top and bottom. You need to use the zoom feature on your TV to stretch it horizontally and vertically.
