You'll never need to pay for MakeMKV, but you'll have to download a new beta and register it with a new serial every month if wishing to use it for free. The developers of MakeMKV have promised to never charge for it while in beta and there's no indication that the application will ever be finalised. If it were to ever become an applcation sold for profit then it would be hit with heavy legal action from film studios who's copyrights it infringes.

Simply download the latest version of MakeMKV here:
MakeMKV - Make MKV from Blu-ray and DVD

Then use the serial posted here:
www.makemkv.com • View topic - MakeMKV is free while in beta

This is valid until March 28th.

Repeat this once a month after the current registration expires.
Just tried Blu Ray got this message Does this things have changed from what you said above

Chaz, in your first post you say you're copying your blu-rays and then later say they need to be ISO because your grandson's player can't play 3D MKV.

Pretty sure that's piracy and, last I checked, can't be discussed on AVF.

"Technically" No different that loaning a Bluray/DVD to someone who "doesn't have a suitable player" is it really ?

No it is not my collection he can stand what I have got. The films I was talking about are own films in his OWN HOUSE!! He had just brought a EGREAT MEDIA player and the only way he can see his OWN 3D films with this unit is Transfer to ISO all I WAS TRYING TO DO WAS HELP HIM !! Which I am not good at as Many will tell you on this forum I am a complete IDIOT when comes to this sort of thing So DOT JUMP OF THE HANDLE I DARE YOU SAY I AM TRYING TO DO PIRATE COPY'S!! I HAVE BEEN ON THIS FORUM FOR 14 YEARS AND NOT ONE HAVE I BEEN ACCUSED OF PIRATING FILMS By the way I own a MEDE8ER 800 Playe and I have no Trouble watching 3d I was trying to find out If I could show him how he could do it. I AM SO ANGERY I WILL NOT BOTHER WITH THIS ANYMORE I WILL TELL HIM TO TRY AND O IT ON HIS OWN

"Chill" :cool:

...was a perfectly valid question and nobody actually accused you of anything... :)

A court of law wouldn't unfortunately see it that way. You made a copy and dirstibuted to meaning the content owner lost a sale because of your actions. Whether the person you gave the content to has a Blu-ray player is neither here nor there. There's nothing preventing him from buying a player.

Technically, copying content you own for your own use is illegal in the UK, but I wouldn't worry about the police breaking your door down :)

I am not using any of my disc or my media player at all my grandson wanted to know how I can I watch my 3d on my multi media player but he could not I found out if he wanted to watch his own 3d films on his own multi media

player he would have to transfer to ISO where I do not have to do that on my 800 Why is everybody having a dig at me. What the many thousands and thousands of guys on here use multimedia players who transfer there discs to hard drives They are breaking the law then should I report them to FACT. NO of course not All we are dining it is convenience so we do not have to look for the film in the book case it is easier to go to your TV and chose the film to watch. So if you invited your brother sister Mum & dad round for a few drinks that is breaking the law big time one you will need a public entertainment license alcohol license nd a knock on the door from FACT because you are showing the film in public

I wasn't having a dig at you and was simply pointing out where the law stands on this. As I said, you are technically breaking copyright law as it currently stands in the UK, but then again so am I. Neither of us should expect the police to actively come looking for us as long as we aren't copying content to distribute publicly or copying it to sell.

Great. His films in his house. Strictly speaking it's still illegal but copying a disc that's been purchased for personal use sort of removes the 'lost sale' argument.

Sorry to upset you. I'm fairly new to these forums.

You're fine to invite anyone round to view at your house, it's a private residence.

As long as it's "Free" ;)

As long as it's "Free" ;)

Even then it depends upon the size of the audience.

The showing of a movie will be considered to be a "public performance" if either of the following is true:
  • You will be showing the movie to people other than members of your family or a small group of your friends.
  • You will be showing the movie in a place that is open to people other than members of your family or a small group of your friends (for example, a classroom or the Commons Theater), whether or not any such people attend.
Generally speaking, then, showing a movie in your home or dorm room will not constitute a public performance, as long as you limit attendance to family and friends. Most other showings will constitute public performances.

I was referring to the Popcorn and Pick&Mix..... ;)
