Mods, I'm not sure which section this should go in so could you please leave it in GC. I think these guys will be my best bet.

When I visit the following link in Firefox, it plays. But it will not in Internet Explorer.

    http://www.garden-birds.co.uk/birds/sounds/meadow_pipit.mp3

Is it just my PC or is this the same for you all?
If so, any ideas as to how to solve this?

    Cheers.

Its forbidden for me, but the message is coming from the remote server itself. So not sure if you are supposed to have an account with them?

It does say if you have a problem to email the administrator : British Garden Birds - Mail Us

depends on your plugins ... Quicktime usually associates itself with most browsers and will play an mp3 directly from its URL on the browser (check your Quicktime preferences/settings)

plays for me directly on both Firefox and IE ... and have put it in PLAYMP3 tags below

    Cheers guys.

Even though you have put it in the mp3 tags, it still does not work for me in IE Krish.

    This has got me stumped.

Does this work in IE for everyone else?

    Hi,

    Works fine here. Am using:

Internet Explorer - version 7.0.5730.11 and Windows XP.

Sounds like you may need to re-install Quicktime, and then reassociate all the MP3 extensions, so they play with Quicktime, or with Windows Media Player, or another such suitable application.

It is only the mp3 files on that one site which will not play in IE.
    Other sites are fine.

Cheers though guys, but I have thrown the towel in with it.

Have you tried clicking on the Quicktime option instead of the mp3 option? Does that work?

Check your security settings for the Internet zone in Internet Options. Or check that your firewall isn't blocking wmplayer.exe.

Sorry for being facetious. Surely if it works in Firefox but not in IE thats just one more reason to add to the very long list of reasons NOT to use IE.

Use Firefox (or Chrome/Opera etc etc) and avoid IE like the plague. I work in IT security for a large bank and I never use IE unless I really have to.

The trouble is Jamie, we cannot ram Firefox etc. down the throats of our forum members. Some are old farts, stuck in their ways.:)
