My Dad has just purchased a Sony KD32DX51 Television & a Sony RDR-GX210 DVD recorder. He set it up on the weekend & over the weekend he watched a DVD. When he was watching the DVD, he could just faintly hear a TV Channel coming through the TV speakers, aswell as the DVD film, even when the movie is in pause. Why is this & is one of the items faulty?

He's not watching it through an amp, so he has to have the TV volume on?

    Sounds like cross-talk somewhere.

Possibly the scart lead or (if you're unlucky) within the TV itself.

If you do a search on the Forum, this has been covered recently.

One solution is to tune to a blank channel before using the DVD.

    Hope this helps. :)

Hi, 'Tight git' is right. If he is using a conventional scart lead to connect the TV and DVD player together then if he is using a low quality scart lead then it is a possibility that there is audio crosstalk between the 'incoming' audio from the DVD player with the 'outgoing' audio from whichever tv channel the tv is tuned to. Yes, you can overcome it by tuning the tv to a channel which is unused (and therefore produces no sound) but the more professional approach would be to try a better quality scart lead - can you loan him one to try first beforehand ? Regards, yt.
